This will include natural resources, human impacts, various biomes and habitats, classification of living things, and the structure, function, and behavior of organisms. A History of Why
Thursdays 10 am-12 pm
United States, World History, Electives, English credits
with Teacher Zari

Inquiry-based history, relating present-day questions, dilemmas, observations to its place in the past. We will review research methods and writing functions in history. This course can cover World History, United States History and English requirements. This course is not an incantation to the ills of the past. Rather, students will be able to critically-think about how their past, present and future are intertwined. For our primary text, we will use an organizer called “Slingshot” as a source of inspiration and Ronald Takaki’s A Different Mirror for comprehensive research- students are free to choose which primary sources they wish to use in a final research paper on their selected topic connecting their inquiries of why to the answers from history.
Communications
Tuesdays 10am-12pm
English or Electives credits
with teacher Ayala
The word communication is derived from a Latin word meaning “to share.” In this class, we will share our thoughts, craft and deliver ideas, and understand verbal and nonverbal communications. We will look at ways we communicate, the complexities of communication barriers, and challenge ourselves to be braver and become better presenters of ideas. You might think that you cannot (and do not) want to talk in front of anyone! Hey, I’ve got you! This class will be fun, supportive, and you will grow so much. I promise it will be worth taking it! Already a confident communicator? This class is also for you! It will serve to further advance your skills in this arena as you hone your ability to listen, question, and articulate your ideas. We will tackle one on one communication, small & larger group communication, emotional mastery, organizational skills, and the things that can stand in the way of effective communication. Join me for a class that will give you the confidence to tackle these critical life skills. It may just change your life.
